climate_1The climate is tropical and dominated by the two Asian monsoons. There are three separate seasons (hot, rainy and cool season) in the most area of Thailand except the south of Thailand; there are only two seasons which are dry and wet season. On the west coast of southern Thailand the southwest monsoon brings rain from April through to October, whilst on the east coast of southern Thailand the most rain falls between September and December.

The other region of Thailand is hottest between March, April and May with temperatures approximately from 80°F to 95°F (27°C to 36°C). From May to October the south-west monsoon brings moisture from the Indian Ocean that falls as rain. From October to February the wind direction is reversed and a cooler drier north-east monsoon wind blows off the Asian landmass, bringing a cool season. During the Cool Season, the temperature drops to an average 21°C in the Central Region and 14°C in the North.

When is the best time to go to Thailand? Generally, the best time to come to Thailand is between November and March when it rarely rains and the weather is not too hot. The north and northeast of Thailand is best visited between November and February when the weather is slightly cold. These are the best months for visiting to the north and northeast - flowers are in bloom, it's dry and cool, and in the mountains' mists and fogs often form making what is already wonderful scenery quite exquisite. Finally, the south of Thailand, if you are looking for the sunshine, white beaches and the turquoise seas then the best time to visit the south is between December and April.
